Whiskey Sour

I have worked hard an this recipe. I've experimented with countless variations on it, and this one, dare I say it, is perfect.

  • 2 oz rye whiskey
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • ¾ oz real maple syrup
  • ½ egg white
  • garnish: Angostura bitters; lemon twist, discarded; maraschino cherry

Dry shake in a shaker without ice. Add ice and shake vigorously. Double strain into a coupe.

Spritz with Angostura bitters from an atomizer (or add three drops if you don't have an atomizer). Express the oils from a lemon twist over the top of the drink and discard the twist. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
