Vieux Carré

  • ¾ oz rye whiskey
  • ¾ oz cognac or brandy
  • ¾ oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 barspoon Bénédictine
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
  • garnish: lemon twist

Stir ingredients with plenty of ice and strain into a coupe.

Express lemon peel oils over the drink, then rub it around the rim of the glass and place it in the drink.
